Hitomi Imamura – Head Teacher

Hello! My name is Hitomi.

I studied Social Work in graduate school in Japan and worked in the social work field before moving to Vancouver. After coming to Canada, I spent six years working in a community for people with intellectual disabilities in Burnaby, B.C.

Through raising my own child in Canada, I developed a strong interest in Japanese language education for children. This led me to complete the Short-Term Japanese Language Teacher Training Program at the Vancouver Japanese Language School. I now support children’s learning as a Japanese language teacher.

At Kashinoki, I strive to help children enjoy learning Japanese language and culture through engaging activities such as games, crafts, and seasonal songs. My goal is to create a positive and fun learning environment where children can build their language skills while developing an appreciation for Japanese culture.

I aim to value each child’s unique growth journey and help them experience both the joy of learning Japanese and the confidence that comes from expressing their thoughts and feelings in the language. Let’s explore the world of Japanese together!

はじめまして！ひとみです。

私は日本の大学院で社会福祉を学び、その後、福祉関係の仕事に携わっていました。バンクーバーに来てからは、知的障害のある方々と共に生活するコミュニティーで6年間働きました。

その後、カナダでの子育てを通して子どもたちへの日本語教育に関心を持つようになり、バンクーバー日本語学校の短期日本語講師養成講座を受講しました。現在は、日本語教師として子どもたちの学びをサポートしています。

かしのきでは、子どもたちが毎週楽しみながら日本語や日本文化に親しめるよう、ゲームやクラフト、季節の歌などを取り入れながら授業を行っています。

子どもたち一人ひとりの成長を大切にしながら、日本語を学ぶ楽しさや、自分の気持ちを日本語で伝えられる喜びを感じてもらえるよう心がけています。一緒に日本語の世界を広げていきましょう！
